About EDH LAW

Evans de Vries Higgins is a multi-service law firm in the heart of downtown Bradford and Peterborough.

As lawyers, we are dedicated to our clients. We work with you in order to be the best possible advocates for you. We listen to clearly understand your legal issues, we support and guide you through complex processes, and we develop realistic solutions that help you achieve your goals.

EDH Law is the successor firm to Evans & Evans, in Bradford, and Douglas F. Walker, in Peterborough.

We take pride in continuing on the practices of both these offices. We recognize the decades of quality legal representation provided by the Evans family and Doug Walker.

Both practices had a strong community presence, were welcoming environments, and put their clients first. We are honoured to continue these traditions.

BRADFORD

Evans & Evans was established in Bradford in 1894. In April 2015, Robert (“Bob”) Evans, Jenivieve de Vries and Nathan Higgins merged their respective practices to form a new partnership – EDH Law – and meet the changing needs of a growing community. Robert Evans retired at the end of 2019.

Robert Evans’ grandfather, Thomas W.W. Evans, began practicing in Bradford in 1894. A decade later, he built the building in downtown Bradford where our firm is still located today. Three generations of the Evans family were committed to providing quality legal services to the Bradford community.

Thomas W.W. Evans practiced from 1894 to 1955. Thomas’s sons, Charles and Brock Evans, continued on in their father’s footsteps. Charles practiced from 1926 to 1986, and Brock from 1950 to 1987. Charles’ sons – the third generation of Evans and Evans – also pursued law. Thomas E. Evans practiced from 1958 to 2008 and Robert Evans practiced from 1966 to 2019 at the family firm.

In addition to Evans and Evans’ wills and powers of attorney, EDH Law also holds wills and powers of attorney prepared by the office of (Wilfred) Roy Gordon. Please contact us at our Bradford location if you are searching for wills or powers of attorney prepared by either Evans and Evans or Roy Gordon.

PETERBOROUGH

Douglas F. Walker began practicing law in 1974 and opened his office in Peterborough that same year.

In 2022, Nathan Higgins relocated his practice to Peterborough and began practicing alongside Doug. That same year, EDH Law became the successor firm to Douglas F. Walker and Doug transitioned into a counsel role for EDH Law.

In addition to Douglas F. Walker wills and powers of attorney, EDH Law also holds the wills and powers of attorney prepared by the offices of Gordon Usher and James Fitzpatrick. Please contact us at our Peterborough location if you are searching for wills or powers of attorney prepared by any one of these offices.
